Full Text
From now till peace is declared the paramount issue in America is the winning of the war. The only thing that concerns the American people as a whole in that respect is efficiency—the best man for the job. So far as this paper is concerned, all people will look exactly alike who are able to get results. Meanwhile we would like to see the senate and house committees that are now patriotically investigating matters pertaining to the war, take all Eisenmans and Rosenwalds and others with a keen disposition to let contracts to themselves by the nap of the neck and chuck them out of public places. Any man who runs his patriotism through the cash register needs to be disciplined.
