WAS THERE AN ATTACK?

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 13- A report was received at the sheriff's office Wednesday that a woman had been attacked by a Negro in a cornfield near Trussville on the Birmingham-Gadsden highway. The attack is alleged to have happened about noon Wednesday.

The report has not been verified as no word has come from the investigating deputies. They carried bloodhounds to the scene of the alleged attack which is near convict camp No. 3. Officers at the camp state that the Negro was frightened away after tearing the woman's ...
