Full Text

The Prohibitionists held a mass convention at Owosso on Saturday. The attendance was small, though perhaps fair considering the size of the party. The Ladies' Band from Grand Ledge and a choir of young girls furnished the music. The address was by Prof. Dickie, of Albion, and was like all his utterances on this question—illogical, illiberal, unfair to his late Republican associates, and in fact, to all his political opponents, and full of misrepresentation, but we are pleased to say, free from billingsgate and personal abuse. Mr. Dickie is always eloquent, never tires, and never stops while the audience can be induced to listen, and never fails to tell the public, so often that it cannot be forgotten, what 'a great man I am.'

Mr. Mosher failed to put in his appearance, but Dr. Ball gave The Times a liberal advertisement, for which he has our thanks. But the fact still remains, all the same, that it is not decent to hold any political meeting on the Sabbath. All in all, we do not think our Prohibition friends had much cause for congratulation over their Owosso mass meeting.
