Fur Trappers Are Busy-
Now that milady has gone back to
the primitive and is clothing herself
in the furs of the beasts of the fields,
the trapper is finding his calling one
of profit. Numerous people in the
Rogue valley are setting traps to
catch the fur-bearers of the district,
and the catches are reported good.
The skunk is the most common fur
animal caught here, and the returns
from the pelts are very good, from
$1 to $2 being the general run of
the prices. Mink are next in num-
bers, and the prices for these range
several times the price for skunks.
Two otter have recently been caught
along the river, Geo. Fowler having
taken a small one a mile or so above
town on the Rogue in a trap set for
mink and skunk. and Joe Galvin be-
ing credited with a second, Joe's be-
ing a large one that weighed 40
pounds. Otter bring from $6 to $10
each.
