DR. GRANGER GETS AWARD

Lester B. Granger, National Urban League executive director, has been chosen as a Russwurm Award Winner.

John Russwurm was the first Negro to publish a newspaper in America-134 years ago.

The Public Affairs Committee of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, who make the award, cited Mr. Granger for "outstanding leadership to the Urban League movement."

The presentation plaque reads, "In recognition of outstanding achievement in making possible a richer conception of democratic principles and in tribute for upholding those highest traditions considered as ideals of the American Way of Life."
