CONGRESSIONAL.
SENATE.
Washington, Dec. 20.- Hitchcock introduced a bill supplementing the act for the apportionment of state representation according to the ninth census. Referred. It provides for additional congressional representatives from Nebraska. The Senate reconsidered the bill of last session, establishing the territory of Pembina from a portion of Dakota. The name was then changed to Huron, and the bill passed. The chair presented a communication from the Secretary of War enclosing the report of Major Comstock, of the engineer corps, on the South Pass improvements. Tabled. Wright said he would immediately after the morning hour on Friday, move to consider the Senate bill declaring the true intent and meaning of the Union Pacific act. The Senate then discussed the resolution in regard to the appointment of Cronin as Presidential elector in Oregon until 4 o'clock, and after a brief executive session adjourned.
