DEMOCRATIC SLAMMING

WHY ! it seems but yesterday when that chameleon politician Col. George Harvey and Mr. Wilson, after berating each other soundly, did the moving David and Jonathan act by falling on each other's neck, and commingling their mutual brine and calling each the other "angel" etc., and upon the Colonel's part some strong swearing of eternal fealty to the policies of Mr. Wilson.

Now, alas! it has come to this, between these two reconciled brother Democrats:

"If Daniels has done a single useful act. barring his boasted saving at the spigot while wasting at the bung-hole, the instance has yet to be revealed.

If he has failed to utilize an opportunity to discredit both the department and the administration. the omission is not apparent. It is idle then to murmur ineffectually, 'How long, O Lord, how long!' Naught remains but to minimize so far as possible the dismay which attends the probability of being compelled in 1916 to meet the cry: A vote for Wilson is a vote for Daniels'- no less than for Mr. Bryan himself, and for others who must patiently await their turn in our weighing of their respective achievements and capabilities."

In the language of a famous Delaware statesman, Democrats may well ask"where are we at?"
