Music Appreciation Contest Announced

Greensboro, March 16.—The annual state music appreciation contest for pupils of the sixth and seventh grades will be held at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina Friday, March 26, according to an announcement by Miss Grace Van Dyke More, head of the department of public school music at the college. Miss Hattie S. Parrott, of the state department of public instruction in Raleigh, and Miss More are directors of the contest.

All contestants, their teachers, parents, and friends, are invited by Miss More and Dean H. Hugh Altvater of the school of music to spend the day at the Woman's college and attend the program. The presidents of the Greensboro Woman's club and Junior Woman's club will assist the public school music department of the college in entertaining the visitors.

Each school is entitled to send two contestants, one from the sixth and one from the seventh grade. The contest will be in the form of an objective test, similar to those of the past three years. Each student participating in the contest will be awarded an honor rating in one of three divisions and a certificate of award and a ribbon of a color indicating the honor rating earned.
