Hospital Shows Appreciation To Graduate Nurses on Staff
Community Memorial Hospital, like other hospitals in small communities, has difficulty in securing graduate nurses to staff the hospital, but, unlike many localities, it is fortunate in having many married nurses living in Sidney who work at the hospital and have done so for years. Most of these nurses have small children and other home responsibilities which means that it has been a real sacrifice to serve at the hospital. Some can work only two or three days each week. Then, too, the graduate nurse in a small hospital must assume more responsibility and perform procedures which, in a larger hospital, are the responsibility of the resident medical staff. The registered nurses at Community Memorial Hospital not only have carried their regular assignments, but have been willing to give additional service whenever necessary. By such cooperation, the hospital has been able to meet every emergency and has given the people of this community the care and service they have a right to expect when they are hospitalized.
As an expression of appreciation, the hospital invited the members of the graduating nurse staff and their husbands to dinner and dancing at the Triangle Club on Saturday evening, Sept. 13. Prior to the dinner, a delightful hour was enjoyed at the home of Clara Coleman, Director of Nurses. Those attending the evening's entertainment were:
Mr. and Mrs. James Norden, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kringen, Mr. and Mrs. Knut Hoversten, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Renner, Mrs. Hurly Carey, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Verhasselt, Mr. and Mrs. John Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mielke, Mrs. Jeanette Alarcon, Fred Hammer, Mrs. Chris Hansen, Clara Coleman and Harold Viestenz.
