There was a prayer meeting the other morning in Burton's Theatre, Chambers street, New York, under the auspices of the Young Men's Christian Association. In the course of some remarks, Rev. T. L. Cuyler said:
To-day for the second time in the history of New York, we set apart a disused playhouse for a temporary house of worship. Oh, what fearful soul tragedies may have been enacted in this very building! From yonder "pit," how many a ruined young man may have gone down to the pit of endless despair!
