The Benton War in Missouri,—Loco-Focoism in St. Louis is in a perfect ferment.

The city election is now at hand, and numerous meetings have been held, in nearly all of which there has been the most angry feeling manifested. The question is Benton or no Benton. Thus far it would seem that the Benton men, who are called Free Soilers, are the most numerous, although the opposing faction are making superhuman exertions to floor them. The fight will rage with unabated fury until after the election of members to the next Legislature, which is to decide whether Col. Benton shall longer occupy a seat in the U. S. Senate.
