A GERMAN BISHOP
IS GOING TO CHINA

The Rt. Rev. T. B. R. Von Anzer, of Berlin, a Roman Catholic Bishop, was a passenger on the Doric, bound for China. Bishop Von Anzer stands very high among German divines and is said to have great influence at Court, despite his adherence to a faith other than that of the State Church-Lutheran.

Bishop Von Anzer has control of all German Roman-Catholic missions in China and his present journey is in the interest of those charges. The bishop does not speak English. In his mother tongue he said he did not care to talk for publication, but he thought the troubles in China were practically over and that this was the time for the Church to be in the field and to be up and doing. The influence of the Christian religion ought now to make great strides forward among the Chinese.
