Extract of a letter, dated

"New Haven, April 18.

"We had yesterday (the 17th) one of the most severe snow storms that ever was known. It drove an innumerable number of Robins into town, one lad shot seventy, and a great number were killed with stones. The sleighs have been as numerous about town to-day as any time last winter, and sleds have come in with wood, &c. 10 or 15 miles from the country. I have heard in the fall of the year of indian summers, and conclude this must be the Indian winter."
