TWO WELLS ARE DUE IN WEST KEVIN
One fishing job and a casing job held up two expected completions in the new Midway pool between Kevin and Cut Bank fields during the past week.
The Parrent-Anderson No. 1, C SW14 SE14 26-35-4W, a quarter of a mile east of the Pfabe-Engleking-Enneberg discovery well, has the fishing job with a string of tools in the hole and cavings on top of the string.
The well was drilled without casing and stood up well until it reached a depth of 1900 feet, just above the "pay" and it fell in on the tools. It will be necessary to run a string of casing to get through the cave to reach the tools.
In the new pool will likely be the first completion of the year: The Grant-Anderson No. 1 well in SE NE14 NE1 26-35-4W, northeast of the discovery well, which has now completed running 6-inch casing at 1975 feet and it should drill in within a day or two. The lime is expected to give only a showing of oil and the formation will be treated with hydrochloric acid. The discovery well, so treated, became a flowing well yielding 38 gravity "sweet" paraffin base crude.
A second fishing job in the Midway pool held up the West Kevin-Community-Fee No. 1 well in NE14 NW14 3-34-4W. Drilling resumed at 1300 feet and at 1350 they lost a bit in the hole. They are working daylights only, so progress is rather slow.
Three new locations were announced on the west side during the week.
Fifty Six Petroleum corporation is preparing to start a well in the Midway pool, in center NW 1/4 SW14 13-34-4W, southeast of the West Kevin-Community well.
Two locations were announced near the Cassidy-Mary producer which is in Section 5-34-3W, southwest of Kevin, in new territory.
Hal Gossett, well known Kevin driller has spotted a well in S5 SE14 NE1/4 6-34-3W, west of the Mary producer. Gossett owns the lease on the E½ NE½ Section 6.
Carl Meeks is said to have spotted a well offsetting the Mary producer. He owns the W1/2 NW14 Section 5 and will drill in SE NW14 NW1/ 5.
