On motion of Dr. James Harbin the following gentlemen were unanimously nominated as candidates to represent the county in the next Legislature,
COL. WM. T. WOOTTON,
ROBERT CHESLEY,
CHARLES B. CALVERT,
BENEDICT SEMMES
It was also resolved unanimously, That this Convention will use all fair and honorable exertion to secure the election of the ticket nominated this day, and earnestly call upon their Whig brethren throughout the county to aid them in this laudable effort.
Daniel J. Dickson, Esq. offered the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted by the Convention:
Resolved, That this meeting has unlimited confidence in the integrity and ability of Whigism Q. WhyE, Esq late Postmaster at Upper Marlborough, and regret that, through the exercise of arbitrary power, he has been displaced from an office he has filled with so much satisfaction to the citizens of this district.
Resolved, That the Chairman of this Convention, convene the members thereof by call in the public papers in case of the declension of any of the candidates nominated this day.
