Full Text

The State Convention.—We have every reason to believe, says the Frederick "Union," that the State convention, which is to assemble in this city on Wednesday next, the 20th instant, at 10 o'clock, A. M., will be largely attended, and that the wisest friends belonging to the party will represent the different Counties of the State. If we should be right in our impressions, the people of the State may look with confidence for harmony of action and the presentation of a first-rate man as the Democratic candidate for Comptroller of the Treasury. Under such favorable auspices, who can doubt the success of the Democratic party at the next election? The people of the State are dissatisfied with the manner in which their public affairs have been conducted for the past four years and they now want a change, and we hope that every good and true man will assist in bringing it about.
