Morton's Mess—What Republican Papers Say of it.
Gov. Morton has made a bad mess of his financial platform. It is one that cannot be accepted by the Republicans of this country, and ought not to be. If it is the best he has to offer, we might take Hendricks.—Hartford Post.
Mr. Morton's candidacy was ever slyly entertained outside of his own circle; it certainly is not now. It is not feasible for the party to entertain any notions of a backward step on the question of the currency.—Binghamton Republican (Rep.).
