Full Text

The county seat has at last been thrown in the prohibition class, leaving Swink the only wet town in the county. The election last fall resulted in victory for the "wets" in the precinct harboring the saloons but the ballots at the recent election read "Shall the city of La Junta become anti-saloon territory?" and it did. Automobiles and shufflers will be at a premium in La Junta now and the saloons at Swink will have a proposition discounting the holding of stock in the Breckinridge Oil Company that is starting the oil boom north of Ordway. "Business at the wells" will serve as a good excuse for the directors to head for the northwest—by way of Swink. Ordway Era.
