SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.

At a meeting of the Board of School Committee, the report of the committee on fuel was made by the Superintendent, that fuel had been contracted for to supply the several schools, at the rate of $3 per cord for hard pine, $3.62 for hard wood, Lehigh broken coal screened $7 per ton, charcoal of green hard wood $10—all delivered.

Voted that the schools throughout the city be suspended on Thursday, the 26th, on account of the National Fast.

Voted that the Superintendent, with the sub-committee in Ward 7, prepare a room and institute a middle school in said ward, by taking the smaller pupils of the grammar school and the larger in the primary, and placing the grammar school assistant in charge of them.

Adjourned to Saturday, the 28th, to examine applicants for winter schools.
