Extract of a Letter from Halifax in Yorkshire, dated October 12.

Yesterday the Inhabitants of this Town met at the Town Hall, when 450 working Clothiers came and voluntarily entered themselves to bear Arms, and conform to Military Discipline, for the Defence of his Majesty's Person and Government; they are to be commanded by William Radcliff, Esq; and James Anderson, Esq; both Gentlemen of distinguished Zeal and Loyalty. Business is laid aside, and nothing at present thought on, but what Measures are to be taken for the Defence of All that is dear and valuable to Englishmen.
