Full Text
In two more days, from our present issue, will complete the eventful year of 1865. In its passage it has left a blight upon many fond hearts, and crushed the fondest hopes of many—alas, too many! Memory will oft recur to the scenes enacted during this gloomy period, only to make the heart bleed afresh. But we will not moralize upon such a theme—let us turn our thoughts to one more pleasing. We are about entering upon another, and trust it may be a brighter, happier year. With the ushering in of the New Year, let us, one and all, resolve to "act a better part," so that at its close we can say of a truth, we are happier and better for having lived aright.
