The North Carolina Convention adjourned after a session of a little more than five weeks. Principal acts include equalization of representation in both houses; alteration of legislative sessions from annual to biennial; election of Governor by the People biennially instead of by General Assembly annually; Attorney General term limited to four years; exclusion of Borough Members; abrogation of voting privilege for free persons of colour; viva voce voting for General Assembly officers; amendment of 32d article to change Protestant to Christian; provisions for future amendments, impeachments, removal of judges for disability, and against unnecessary private legislation.
