Full Text
The Colorado Packing Corporation has received word that two carloads of the 25 to be packed here this year have started rolling toward Canon City, and ought to be here within the next day or two, so that the season on pears can be started about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, perhaps a day earlier.
Registrations for work have not been coming in as fast as the company had hoped would be the case. Many more women and girls will be needed than now available, according to present registrations, and the company is exerting every effort to get as many as possible registered in the next day or two.
More money can be made in a day on pears than any other fruit or vegetable the local plant handles, and as the work will continue for from three to six weeks, housewives and high school girls who want to make a little extra money for the winter or school year, have a splendid opportunity to do so.
Three hundred women, it is thought, will be needed for the pear season.
