Whistler, August 26, 1878.
Editor Morning Star:
In your announcement of places etc., where Confirmation has been recently administered, by the Right Rev. Bishop Quinlan, Whistler has been omitted. Were it not for the unusual facts in connection with the occasion I should have let the affair pass unnoticed.
The Bishop accompanied by Father Brown V. G. administered Confirmation here to all those at that time prepared, six of whom were converts, who after mature deliberation and instructions in the Doctrines of the Church, by our most worthy pastor, Father Marley embraced the true Faith and are happily united with God in the one fold. Amongst those confirmed I noticed one in particular appearance, he is an aged man of about 65 or 70 years of age. The Church was crowded the weather was excessively warm and oppressive, the imposing ceremony and the eloquent and instructive sermon delivered by the Bishop kept all in profound composure. Mrs. kindly volunteered her services on the occasion and it is unnecessary to say that at her touch the new organ pealed forth its notes to its best advantage and in perfect harmony with her beautiful voice.
