A Scaur! A printer of the name of J. H. CARSON, who had been here for several weeks, left on Monday last, under somewhat suspicious circumstances, taking with him a horse and buggy which he obtained from Messrs. Hatcher & Pitts, and which he promised to return the next morning. Mr. Pitts having heard, subsequently, that Carson had gambled off a silver watch belonging to a young man in the Times office, he started in pursuit about midnight, and overtook him, on Tuesday noon, at or near Flint River, making his way towards Macon. The fellow drew a pistol on Mr. Pitts, but was prevented from using it. The horse and buggy were recovered, and brought back yesterday. Mr. Pitts was induced to let Carson take his bundle, and tramp, from representations made that he had a wife in Macon, and that much distress would be occasioned by his prosecution for the offence committed. This was probably well enough: but as the gentleman has added to his other offences that of lying, in reference to ourselves, we give this caution to our fellow-craftsmen to beware of him. His dexterity in climbing ladders and opening windows of second stories, points him out as a proper subject to be looked after most carefully. For the honor of the craft of which he is an unworthy specimen—we trust that his escape this time from the Penitentiary, will "lead him to repentance" and a thorough reformation, though we fear that a different winding up of his career may be anticipated.-Columbus (Ga.) Democrat.
