Mothers and Their Children
ENCOURAGING TRAVEL
One mother says:
The study of geography is apt to seem dry and unreal to children unless something is done to bring it close to them. I have done this by getting a number of railroad and steamship line pamphlets describing various parts of this and other countries. These contain much information about the places described, and the children love to read them. They read the pamphlets that deal with the places they are studying in school, and get a better, clearer idea of locations and distances. Moreover, this gives them a greater desire to visit distant places in that dreamed-of time when they can travel.
