Residents of the Oakland area will have another opportunity to participate in the American Red Cross blood donor program on Wednesday, June 8. The Johnstown bloodmobile unit will be at the Oakland Fire hall on that date from noon until 6 o'clock, according to Mrs. Grover C. Stemple, chairman of blood recruitment for the American Red Cross in this county.
Mrs. Stemple expressed the hope sufficient response from blood donors would be forthcoming to help Garrett county maintain its percentage advantage among the 31 chapters forming the Johnstown area group.
During the first three months of this year, the local unit obtained the highest percentage of its quota and was awarded a pennant for the accomplishment. The local unit must maintain its position to retain the emblem of leadership, Mrs. Stemple said.
