Full Text

London, Nov. 29. We have received from Genoa the following Extract of a Declaration sign'd by the Corsican Hostages at Toulon. That they were sensibly grieved when they heard of the Steps lately taken by part of their Countrymen, in Favour of Baron Neuhoff; that they disown and disapprove them, both in their own Names, and in the Names of the rest of their Countrymen; that they look upon those Steps, and such like, to be vain, dangerous, and iniquitous, opposite to their Country's Happiness, and contrary to the Respect and Gratitude due to the glorious Proofs of the most Christian King's Goodness, in labouring to put an End to the Evils their Country groans under, &c.

They write from Leghorn, that the Chiefs of the Corsicans on the other side of the Mountains, have lately received a Letter from Baron Neuhoff, the Substance of which is as follows: That by drawing off from their Coast he only yielded to Time and Circumstances; that Prosperity of the Corsicans, the Obstacles he meets with will only render him more careful to overcome them, that their Fidelity and Confidence are the properest Means for contributing towards it; wherefore he exhorts them to persist in those Sentiments: That they must not be discouraged by any unforeseen Accidents that may happen, which are inseparable from all great Enterprizes, &c.
