The millions that formerly went into European coffers are being spent in seeing America
The Summer Social Register reveals the fact that only 205 families of the socially prominent are abroad as against 615 last year. Departures for foreign ports have dwindled since April 1 from 552 to 44.
It is estimated that $100,000,000 spent by the summer tourist in European travel is being used in finding recreation on American soil
