PARTIZAN POST-OFFICES.

The Geneva Gazette, published at Geneva, N. Y. in a recent issue says: How the mail service is perverted to subserve partisan ends when conducted by unscrupulous and rascally politicians, has illustration by a circumstance we feel constrained to mention. Last Friday evening a large number of Gazettes were addressed to parties in neighboring towns, duly stamped and put in the Geneva Post Office at about 8 o'clock p. m. Way mails leave next morning at about 7 o'clock for the west and south. Investigation reveals the fact that those at least destined for points on the line of the S. G. & C. railroad were not forwarded by the first mails, and in all probability were detained in the Geneva P. O. until Monday morning, as no route agent goes out Sunday. Does any one imagine that Republican papers or documents would have been thus detained by our "efficient" (?) Post Master? No, indeed! but in such case if the mailbag had left his office, he would have streaked it with flying coat tails to overhaul the carrier and dispatch the precious documents by waiting train! What a blessed boon is "civil service reform" as illustrated by the average republican officeholder.

We heard considerable complaint during the campaign about the delay of mail matter at some of the post offices in this district. Parties thus aggrieved ought to make prompt complaint to the Department.

A large number of Geneva Gazettes addressed to parties in neighboring towns were stamped and placed in the Geneva Post Office at about 8 o'clock p. m. on last Friday evening. Way mails leave next morning at about 7 o'clock for the west and south. Those destined for points on the line of the S. G. & C. railroad were not forwarded by the first mails and were detained in the Geneva P. O. until Monday morning, as no route agent goes out Sunday. This delay is alleged to be due to partisan bias by the Post Master, who would not detain Republican papers.
