Full Text

The Elector of Bavaria lately published a decree, which does equal honor to the policy and the liberality of his government.—He intimated that diversity of religious principles should form no obstacle to the enjoyment of all the rights of citizenship throughout his dominions, Some bigotted magistrates, whose narrow souls could not enter into the beneficent views of their sovereign, protested against this measure as contrary to the treaty; their remonstrances were treated with the contempt which they deserved, and in several instances the edict has been carried into full effect.
