STATE INSPECTORS
ARE ENFORCING THE
AUTOMOBILE LAWS

Four East St. Louis chauffeurs who have not procured the proper licenses from the Secretary of State, were arrested by state automobile investigators, who are now in East St. Louis, and according to Deputy City Clerk John Hallihan, who is directing the waging of the fight against unlicensed chauffeurs, many more arrests are expected within the next few days.

The inspectors who are in East St. Louis have reported the many violations in the city of automobilists who have but one license plate on their machines, instead of the two furnished by the State. Under the state law, a license plate must be carried both on the front and rear of the machines. This is openly violated by probably more than half the autoists of the city, according to the inspectors.
