ELIZABETH-TOWN, May 28.

The 7th instant some jockeys from New-York, full freighted with counterfeit money, came to this town, and made a feeble attempt the same evening, to impose it on an inhabitant of this place, which led to a detection of their nefarious scheme. Steps were used for securing them, but in the process of the business, two found means to make their escape, and only one solitary fellow now bemoans his hapless fate in the purlieus of Newark. Some plate, which has since been claimed, was found among their baggage.
