GENERAL BROWN.

We learn from a source the most respectable, and not for a moment to be questioned, that a recent article respecting the health of Gen. Brown, republished in this paper from a paper printed at Watertown, was calculated materially to mislead the public in regard to the health of that gallant officer. So late as the 20th instant, the general was able to walk about the house, without even the assistance of his cane. His hand and arm were also fast recovering their activity, and every day more and more confirmed his friends in the belief, that he would speedily and entirely recover. His general health has been good ever since his attack, and it is manifest to every person who has an opportunity of seeing him, that the vigor of his mind is not in the slightest degree impaired.

It has afforded us much pleasure to communicate the above intelligence, and we cannot but regret, that any person or persons, from sinister motives, or from motives to us inexplicable, should have been induced to make, and give publicity to a statement, which, to say the least, could neither do the country, nor those more immediately interested, any good.
