Mr. Henshaw was formerly Collector of the port of Boston. He is eminently qualified to discharge the duties appertaining to the Navy Department. He is besides one of the favorite sons of the Democracy of old Massachusetts. His appointment would be hailed with enthusiasm by the Democracy of the country.

In consequence of the death of the Hon. Hugh S. Legaré, two vacancies in the Cabinet have occurred. It is probable that Mr. Upshur the distinguished head of the Navy Department, will be called to preside over the State Department, and that the Hon. David Henshaw, of Boston, will be invited to take charge of the Navy Department. Mr. Henshaw was formerly Collector of the port of Boston. He is eminently qualified to discharge the duties appertaining to the Navy Department. He is besides one of the favorite sons of the Democracy of old Massachusetts. His appointment would be hailed with enthusiasm by the Democracy of the country.
