Full Text

Trouble in the Camp.

At the late town-meeting held in this town, the federal committee reported that four thousand dollars taxes, comprising arrearages for the last four years, remained uncollected—that the town-pensioners had not received their stipends, for the last six months—that town orders were selling at an enormous discount—and the affairs of the town wore a very gloomy aspect. How long will the people of Newport permit this state of things to exist? To the federalists belongs exclusively the honor of holding all the offices of the town, and controlling the management of its finances.
