What is this article about?
Editorial from Richmond Whig criticizes Van Buren party for ignoring 'right of instruction' from state elections, arguing that respecting instructions to 11 senators with 53,500 vote majorities would give Whigs a 30-22 Senate majority, flipping from current 33-19 Vanite edge.
Merged-components note: The table of state election majorities overlaps spatially with and is contextually referenced in the editorial on Senate instructions, forming a single logical opinion piece.

From the following statement, it will be seen, that if the Van Buren party had any regard for the 'right of instruction,' about which they clamored so loudly two years ago, the Senate of the United States would now present a decided majority against the Administration.

At the commencement of the Session, the Senate was divided—33 Vanites, 19 Whigs—leaving a majority for the Administration of 14. Deduct 11 members now in opposition to the will of their constituents, and the vote in the Senate should stand Whigs 30, Vanites 22.—Richmond Whig.
