Full Text
A resolution hath been taken by several ministers of the Diet to ask the Brandenburg minister for an assurance in writing touching the safety of their persons in this city; and tho' no doubt is made that this demand will be complied with, some of those ministers discover uneasiness, being uncertain what part their court will act with regard to the affair of disbanding the army of the Empire. It was resolv'd to signify to the French minister, that the threats of the Prussians constituted the case in which France's guaranty of the treaty of Westphalia must be justly claimed. This was done accordingly; and the French minister made answer, that he would lay the affair before his court. What the consequence may be is not easy to foresee. For supposing that the court of France should allow that they ought to interpose, the French King will scarce do it without the concurrence of Sweden, his co-guarantor; and his Swedish Majesty is at present on such terms with the King of Prussia that nothing of this nature can be expected from him. In any event, assistance from that quarter would come too late in the danger which now presses us.

Event Details
Ministers of the Diet resolved to seek written assurance from the Brandenburg minister for their personal safety in Ratisbon amid uneasiness over their court's stance on disbanding the Empire's army. They informed the French minister that Prussian threats invoked France's guarantee of the Treaty of Westphalia, which he promised to report to his court. Consequences are unforeseeable, as France would likely require Sweden's support, but Sweden's poor relations with Prussia make this unlikely.
