A gentleman arrived in town this morning from Upper Marlbro' which he left yesterday at 12. from whom the following information is derived:
The number of vessels in the Patuxent is 46 of all description; they are mostly at and near Benedict (west side of the river) where they landed their troops. There are 4 or 5 sail off Port Tobacco on the Potomac; they had not made any landing from them. At 8 oclock yesterday an express was received that they were advancing by land and water, and were within two miles of Nottingham. The Flotilla moved thence to Mount Pleasant, a few miles in advance of Queen Anne's-The 36th and 38th U. S. Regiments with a large body of militia, were on their march down to meet the enemy; but it is supposed, they would not reach Nottingham to save it. Large bodies of troops were continually marching down to support them.
