Pennsylvania.—The Vice-Presidency.

The Pennsylvania Jackson State Convention met at Harrisburg on the 5th instant, and was organized by appointing Frederick Smith, of Franklin county, President, Wm. M'Creery of Washington, Christian Garber, of Huntingdon, Joseph B. Anthony of Lycoming, and Alexander Cook of Philadelphia Vice Presidents; and J. Y. Barclay of Westmoreland, and Gen. Henry Frick of Northumberland, Secretaries. One hundred and twenty-two members were in attendance.

General Jackson was unanimously nominated President. The persons put in nomination for Vice President, were Messrs. Dallas, Wilkins, Buchanan, and Van Buren. A letter was read before any balloting took place from Mr. Buchanan declining to be a candidate. The following was the result of the first three ballotings:

On the last ballot the votes stood Wilkins 67, Dallas 62, Van Buren 1! so Mr. Wilkins was nominated. Wilkins & Dallas are brothers-in-law. The Convention refused to send delegates to the Baltimore Convention.
