Remains of Late Lieutenant Deen Laid to Rest at Home.
Athens, Tex., Dec. 28.—The remains of the late Lieutenant Fred L. Deen, who was killed by an insane officer of his rank in the Philippines, were brought here, his boyhood home, and interred. After services at the Methodist church the body, accompanied by the Athens Military band and a great number of friends, proceeded to the cemetery. After prayer, Captain Guy Green, formerly an officer in the United States service, as the representative of the younger acquaintances of Lieutenant Deen made an address. Rev. Garrett then closed the burial service, after which taps were sounded and the large crowd quietly dispersed. The grave was literally covered with flowers.
