A Very Rich Property. Says Mr. Pierce Who Has Just Visited It.
Mr. C. C. Pierce returned this morning from Mexico where he has been on a visit to the Concepcion del Oro mining district, and also visited with his old friend Mr. W. H. Banks while there. Mr. Pierce in company with Mr. Banks, who is operating the mine, went through the "General Escobedo" mine, in which Col. Brewster, Customs Collector Haynes, and other prominent Laredo men are chief stockholders. Mr. Banks also is largely interested and an active promoter of the properties. Mr. Pierce expressed himself this morning as astonished at the wonderful richness of the "General Escobedo" both in volume and grade of ore. Mr. Pierce said, "In my humble opinion Col. Brewster and Mr. Haynes are really millionaires." All that is needed at present, he said, is the installing of an elevator-device by which the ore may be lifted with far more facility than the present method by which the bags of ore are carried up ladders. It is purposed to put in the elevator shortly, when the ore will be shipped in quantities without further difficulties.
