MISREPRESENTATION. A letter appears in the Emancipator, signed Henry Bibb, which indicates either a singular lack of discrimination, or a disposition to wilfully misrepresent, on the part of the writer. It refers to the resolution adopted at the late annual meeting of the American A. S. Society, respecting the absurd project of giving the Bible to the slaves, and represents the friends of the Society as being unwilling that the slaves should be supplied with that book! We can hardly excuse Mr. Bibb for making such a representation: because he knows that the project alluded to was opposed on the ground of its impracticability, (which no speaker on the occasion more fully confirmed than himself,) and its tendency to satisfy the northern mind with a half-way measure, and thus to cause it to overlook the stern historical and philosophical fact, that the emancipation of the slaves is first to be gained before they can be mentally or morally elevated as rational beings.
