3 New Jersey Congressmen Do a Top Job

Congressmen Charles R. Howell, Peter W. Rodino Jr. and Alfred D. Sieminski, all Democrats, of New Jersey are constantly on guard to protect the welfare of all the people.

This has been proven time and again by their votes on important measures in Congress and their efforts to bring about defeat of issues which would not serve the people's best interests.

Representative Howell represents New Jersey's fourth district; Representative Rodino, the 10th District, and Representative Sieminski, the 13th District.

A native of Trenton, Congressman Howell was educated in Trenton public schools, Hoosac School, Hoosick, N. Y.; Princeton University and University of Pennsylvania.

He has been engaged in his own insurance business in Trenton since 1928 and is a chartered life underwriter. He is a former president of Trenton Association of Life Underwriters and former vice-president of New Jersey Association of Life Underwriters.

Representative Howell was elected to New Jersey House of Assembly in 1944 and was reelected the following year.

He is treasurer of Trenton Chapter, Conference of Christians and Jews, and is on the executive board of Trenton Council on Human Relations. He is vice-chairman, New Jersey Americans for Democratic Action, and is a member of the Lions Club, Trenton Elks, former president of Trenton Kennel Club and member of Advisory Committee, Department of Politics, Princeton University.

Congressman Howell, who is a member of the Committees on Education and Labor and House Administration, was elected to the 81st Congress Nov. 2, 1948 and reelected to the 82nd Congress Nov. 7, 1950.

Congressman Rodino, a native of Newark and a lawyer, was one of the first enlisted men to be commissioned overseas during the last war. He was honored with the highest order of Knighthood in Italy by former King Umberto and won other foreign decorations for distinguished services in the military.

He holds Knighthood in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

He served with the U. S. 1st Armored Division and military mission, Italian Army, and was discharged from service in April, 1946, as a captain.

Congressman Rodino, who is a member of the Committee on the Judiciary in the House, was the first member of Congress to testify in hearings on repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act. He was elected to the 81st Congress Nov. 2, 1948 and reelected to the 82nd Congress Nov. 7, 1950.

He is chairman of the Middle Atlantic Veterans Housing Committee and a member of the Fellowship of United States-British Comrades. He has a gold-life membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is a member of Loyal Order of Moose, American Veterans of World War II, Military Order of World Wars, Knights of Columbus, Essex County Bar Association, National Unico Club and the Elks.

Congressman Sieminski, who was elected to the 82nd Congress while serving with the X Corps in Korea, is a member of the Committee on Appropriations.

He served in the Army during World War II and rose in rank from private to major. He was in the Korean Theater in 1950.

Native of Jersey City, he was educated in Jersey City public schools, New York Military Academy, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N. Y.; Hun School, Princeton, N. J. and graduated from Princeton University in 1934 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.

Congressman Sieminski, who speaks French, Polish and German, is vice-president of the Brunswick Laundry, Jersey City.
