By Captain Gregory, who arrived at Philadelphia, on the 8th instant, in eight weeks from Cadiz, we are informed, that the day before he sailed, an account was received there from Madrid, that towards the latter end of May, General Paoli having withdrawn his forces from the sea coast, and posted the heights, was followed by the French into the mountains, where they were attacked by the Corsicans, and entirely defeated; when 1000 of the French were killed on the spot, and 1200 taken prisoners. And that his Prussian Majesty had sent a complimentary letter to General Paoli, on the occasion, wherein he styled him, The greatest hero of the age.
