SINGULAR CASUALTY.
Sometime in the night of the 7th instant William Young entered a still house belonging to John Green, esq. about three miles from this place, and laid himself down on one of the stills, for the purpose, as supposed, of warming himself. Here, it is conjectured, he fell asleep; and, turning over, precipitated himself into the boiler, which stands close to the place on which he was lying. The boiler contained water nearly boiling hot, in which the person of Young, with the exception of his head and feet, was immersed. How long he remained in that state is uncertain. He was rescued by Mr. Green, who was aroused from sleep by the sufferer's moans—nor was it until repeated attempts, that the former succeeded in his object; he, in the first place, catched hold of Young's legs; but failing in this, he next grasped his hair, by which he was dragged out. When Young's clothes were stripped off, his skin almost all peeled off; and the flesh on his fingers was so scalded that it left the bones naked. The unhappy man survived the catastrophe but a short time. He died in great agony.
