The Centinel, from which we have gathered the above statements, thus remarks :-
" Old Massachusetts- Forever.--The statement of votes this day given will justify the confident anticipation, that the desire of the friends of WASHINGTON, COMMERCE and PEACE, has been gratified in the election of the Honorable CALEB STRONG, Governor: and the Honorable WILLIAM PHILLIPS, Lieutenant-Governor, of Massachusetts, by a majority exceeding three thousand votes.
" Votes for Governor.--1st.--By the official reports of the legislative committee on the votes for governor last year, the whole number returned was 83,917-of which Mr. GORE had 40,142, Mr. GERRY 43,325, and there were 447 scattered votes ; of which latter 182 were intended for Mr. Gore, and 265 for Mr. Gerry. Of the votes not received in season 306 were for Mr. GORE, and 324 for Mr. Gerry., Mr. Gerry's plurality therefore was short of 3200."
