We have the pleasure of announcing to our readers, that the bill amending the Charleston Rail Road Charter, passed the House of Representatives on Wednesday, by a vote of 81 to 11. The amendment of Mr. Kincaid, mentioned in our Legislative reports, was considered and rejected. Another amendment, by way of separate enactment, offered by Mr. Kelley, was adopted; which provides, that if the Company shall ever construct the road to the Ohio river, from Lexington, or any other point, the three branches to Louisville, Covington and Maysville, shall be constructed simultaneously. This in no way affects the South Carolina amendment, making Lexington the terminus of the road, but simply prohibits the Company from proceeding farther than Lexington, unless they do so by three branches.
In our next we shall give the proceedings, with the ayes and noes on this interesting subject. In the meantime, we congratulate our citizens and the State, on this auspicious result.
