Palton Has Chance To Walk Again, Say Army Physicians

Heidelberg, Germany (AP)

Many surgeons attending Gen. George S. Patton said tonight there was a good chance he might be able to walk again but cautioned that there is always the possibility the general might be crippled for life.

Col. Lauren E. Ball, Harlan, Ky., commanding officer in the Army hospital where Patton has been paralyzed from the neck down, said dislocation of the vertebrae in Patton's neck was caused but was still impossible to determine how much damage had been done to the spinal cord.

He explained it would take some time alone to tell whether Patton would again be able to walk.
