Last Saturday's gazette gives an account, that the Parliament of Ireland met on the 18th of June, when the Lord Lieutenant sent for the Commons, and directed them to choose a Speaker; and they having elected the Right Honourable Edmund Sexton Pery, Esq; into that office, he was by them presented, and approved by his Excellency, who then made a speech to both Houses of Parliament; In which he acquaints them, that his Majesty has been pleased to call them thus early together, to give them an opportunity of dispatching such parliamentary matter as they shall judge to be immediately necessary for the public service. On the 20th of June the Lord Lieutenant went again to the House of Peers, and gave the royal assent to the bill for allowing further time to persons in offices or employments to qualify themselves, and then prorogued the Parliament to the 20th of August next.
